The Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NB-CCI) has reached a major institutional milestone with its official admission as a member of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

The Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NB-CCI) has reached a major institutional milestone with its official admission as a member of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

The admission was approved following the formal presentation of a motion that was moved, seconded, and unanimously adopted during the NACCIMA Executive Council and National Council Meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on the 24th of June 2026.

This landmark achievement represents the successful culmination of months of strategic planning, institutional development, stakeholder consultations, and regulatory compliance undertaken by the Chamber's Promoters, Board of Directors, Subscribers, and Secretariat towards establishing a world-class bilateral Chamber dedicated to strengthening economic relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

Membership of NACCIMA confers national recognition on the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and provides a strategic platform through which the Chamber will actively participate in shaping private sector policies, promoting bilateral trade and investment, supporting business advocacy, and contributing to Nigeria's economic development agenda.

The Chamber was established with the sole mandate of promoting trade, investment, industrial cooperation, cross-border trade facilitation, and regional economic integration between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin. Since its incorporation, NB-CCI has embarked on several strategic initiatives, including high-level engagements with public and private sector institutions, diplomatic missions, border management agencies, and business organizations in both countries to strengthen commercial cooperation along the Nigeria–Benin corridor.

The President of the Chamber, Alhaji Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi, described the admission as a defining moment in the history of the organization.

"Our admission into NACCIMA is not only an endorsement of our vision but also a call to greater responsibility. We remain committed to building stronger institutional partnerships, facilitating legitimate cross-border trade, supporting private sector growth, and serving as the foremost bridge between the business communities of Nigeria and the Republic of Benin."

The Chamber also expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of NACCIMA, including its President, members of the Executive Council, National Council, and the Secretariat, for their confidence in the objectives and strategic direction of NB-CCI.

Special recognition was given to the Chamber's Founding Promoters, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, CON, and Alhaji Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi, whose vision, commitment, and unwavering dedication laid the foundation for the establishment of the Chamber and its successful admission into Nigeria's foremost umbrella body for Chambers of Commerce.

The Board equally commended the dedication of its Subscribers, Directors, Committee Members, Partners, and stakeholders whose collective efforts made this historic achievement possible.

As a member of NACCIMA, the Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry will intensify its efforts in advancing initiatives focused on:

  • Trade Facilitation and Border Efficiency
  • Bilateral Trade and Investment Promotion
  • Business Development and Market Access
  • Small-Scale Cross-Border Trade Formalization
  • Public-Private Sector Partnerships
  • Capacity Building and Enterprise Development
  • Regional Economic Integration under ECOWAS and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
  • Policy Advocacy and Private Sector Representation

The Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with governments, diplomatic missions, chambers of commerce, development partners, border management agencies, and the private sector to unlock new opportunities for businesses operating within the Nigeria–Benin economic corridor.

As NB-CCI embarks on this new chapter, it remains steadfast in its mission of fostering sustainable economic growth, facilitating seamless cross-border commerce, and strengthening regional cooperation for the benefit of businesses and communities in both countries.

The Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry extends its heartfelt appreciation to all its Members, Subscribers, Partners, Friends, and well-wishers for their unwavering support throughout this journey.

Together, we are building a stronger Nigeria–Benin economic corridor and a more prosperous West African region.

Signed
